MARINE

After the sinking of the Titanic in 1912, all countries came together to draw up the first international convention concerning the safety of shipping: SOLAS – Safety of Life at Sea.

In 1948, the SOLAS Convention was renamed IMO in Geneva.

The International Maritime Organisation (IMO) is a specialised institute of the United Nations, charged with developing the principles and techniques of maritime navigation and thus safeguarding maritime transport in order to make it safer.

In particular, the MED Directive assesses the conformity of equipment intended to be placed on board ships.
